Screening Indicators of Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV infections in Prisoners

Objective:

The study was made in the prisoners who had been under risk for many infectious disease. Our goals to screen Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV indicators with serological methods. And to vaccinate in determined seronegative subjects and recommend to follow up and to treat existing patients.

Materials and Methods:

Study was conducted in February-March 2008 in Kayseri Closed Prison with 628 prisoners.

Results:

98.2% of the patients’ percent were male. 81.5% of the patients’ age ranged from 20-44. Anti-HAV IgG seropositivity was 100%, HBsAg seropositivity was 2.4%, Anti-HCV seropositivity was 0.5% and Anti-HIV seropositivity was 0%.

Conclusion:

All cases who had nonimmun for hepatitis B were performed three dose vaccination.
